Pasture, Rangeland and Forage

Nov 16, 2022

Pasture, Rangeland and Forage (PRF) is a highly subsidized risk management tool that helps producers protect their operation from lost production during drought conditions. PRF ensures normal precipitation is received throughout the year on all your grazing and haying acres. With the high cost of feed, this policy helps recover losses when production has been affected due to a lack of rainfall.

A PRF policy allows producers to protect up to 90% of their average rainfall in two-month intervals over a geographical area.  With federal subsidy rates ranging from 51-59%, this policy can be a very cost-effective way to protect your operation when rainfall is below average. If you own or lease any grazing or haying land, please contact your Producer Ag Risk Management Specialist today for more information. Our knowledgeable Risk Management Specialists are highly trained to help producers utilize risk management tools such as PRF. The deadline to signup for the 2023 season is December 1, don’t delay.
