Tate Named President of Producer Ag, LLC

May 15, 2025

Mike Tate has been named president of Producer Ag, LLC and will step into the role on June 2, 2025, the company’s board of directors announced today.

Established in 2023 by longtime cooperative partners CHS Inc. and Mid-Kansas Cooperative (MKC), the Producer Ag grain marketing joint venture enhances the value of an end-to-end cooperative supply chain in the Southern Plains, broadening market access and patronage-eligible options to optimize owner value.

Tate will lead the day-to-day supply chain operations of Producer Ag, driving strong performance and profitability, while working with the Producer Ag Board of Directors to set strategic direction.

Tate joins Producer Ag from Bunge where he held grain origination, operations and supply chain leadership roles for more than 20 years.  Most recently he served as director of origination, helping develop the origination strategy for the company’s U.S.-based grain assets and soy processing facilities.  In addition, through his time at Bunge, he worked across several key areas of the supply chain, including as southern district manager, as export facility manager in Louisiana, as general manager of an ethanol facility and as district commercial manager in Mississippi.

“Mike’s deep and vast experience in grain operations, supply chain and asset management, as well as his close connection to customers throughout his career make him the ideal choice for this position,” said Brad Stedman, Producer Ag board chair and president and CEO of MKC. “This is a pivotal time for Producer Ag as we advance our mission to connect customers to grain markets worldwide. I am excited to welcome Mike to Producer Ag and work alongside him to position the joint venture for success.”

Tate holds a B.S. degree in business management from Louisiana State University and is a board member at key trade associations, including the National Grain and Feed Association.

The 2026 crop insurance cycle includes several updates that can benefit farmers, including higher government subsidies and more flexible coverage options. Subsidies for MPCI, SCO, ECO, and MCO have increased, making coverage more affordable. Farmers can now pair SCO with ARC for greater flexibility, and some may qualify for additional base acres under new legislation. Expanded Beginning Farmer and Rancher Programs also provide longer-term financial support. Producers are encouraged to consult a crop insurance specialist to review their options before the March 15 deadline.

The latest USDA report was bearish for corn, soybeans, and wheat, driven by higher production and rising ending stocks. Increased yields and harvested acres pressured corn prices, while higher soybean acres and weaker export demand lifted both U.S. and global stocks. Wheat markets also faced pressure as larger supplies and higher global production outweighed expectations for tighter inventories. With ongoing market uncertainty, having a clear grain marketing plan is critical, and producers are encouraged to reach out to their grain marketing specialist for guidance.
